Uniwake P.I.G - "Battle of the Uni's"
Everything has now been confirmed for the P.I.G event, the sponsors are on board, the venue set and trophies finished. There has also been a slight change in the format which will hopefully mean more teams can compete!
Each team will now comprise of:
1 Pro Rider - (raleys, spins, tech slider stuff)
1 Amateur - (kicker stuff, spins,sliders)
1 Rookie - (ollie tricks, surface tricks eventually move to sliders/box)
1 Amateur Girl - (ollie tricks, surface tricks eventually move to sliders/box)
Each category will only compete against each other but you ride for your teams P.I.G. count - there are also 2 veto cards should a team want to pass on a trick
If you don't have a team but want to compete then no worries. Get down to MK and we will try and make up some teams on the day, failing that the cable will still be open for riding at student prices
Any questions, contact either Rich at richunderwood@btinternet.com or Cameron at development@uniwake.com
-------------------------
Ok guys and girls the dates have been confirmed for Uniwake P.I.G, it will all be happening on Saturday the 28th of March 2009 at WakeMK, so keep that weekend free!
Registration will start at 9am, I know it’s early but it needs to be to get all the teams through. However there will be a couple of practice sessions running throughout the winter and you can register your team then.
All entry fees will be paid when you sign onto the water on the day (price tbc).
The format for riding has changed, instead of there being a girls pro category there will just be a girls intermediate and a girls rookie. (Liu we still want you to enter it just means you might not have the chance to do any inverts)
Once you have come to a conclusion you will need to fill in an entry form for your team, if you email richardunderwood@btinternet.com then I can send you one. There are only 8 spaces for teams so its first come first served. Also there can only be one team from each university. If your water sports club doesn’t have enough riders then you can always get in touch with other members of Uniwake and create your own team.
For those of you who aren’t entering the completion come down and check it out, there will be a student price available on the day so you will still get to ride. Plus there will be music, a sick comp to watch and lots of other things to do. Also the winch will be running so you can come and hit the new park. Skaters, that means you!!
The after party and presentation will be held in the city centre at the Sno Bar in Xscape. It’s a sick venue and a good night out.
There will be a couple of options for accommodation, you can either:
• Sleep in your car or van in the car park; just remember to buy a ticket.
• Camp at Willen Lake, however the prices are pretty steep.
• Or the best option is to get a hotel room that WakeMK have sorted out. You can get a room that sleeps 4 people for around £12.50 a head. Also it’s about a £5 taxi from the city centre. The hotel is located just on the other side of the lake.
This should be a sick event and hopefully the first of many.
